Piekuras Marijus 11 July 1960
Vilnius, Lithuanian painter. Son of I. Piekuras and M. T. Rožanskaitė, brother of G. Piekuras. In 1984 he graduated from the Lithuanian Art Institute (studied with A. Šaltenis, L. Surgailis). Since 1988 he has been teaching at the Čiurlionis School of Arts. Participates in exhibitions in Lithuania and abroad since 1984; individual in Vilnius (1992–1994, 1996, 2000–2004; 2018 – with his wife R. Piekuriene), Molėtai (1998), Varėna (2002, 2016); exhibitions with the family (I. and G. Piekuras, M. T. Rožanskaitė) in Vilnius (1997, 2007), Klaipėda (2003), Moscow (2004), Curonian village (Varėna district, 2001, 2003, 2005). Early works – landscapes, still lifes (On Chairs 1985, Still Life 1988), figurative compositions; they have a dark rich color, expressive paintings, coarse textures. He painted works of mythological and sacral themes (Cycle of Kings and Queens). He started painting on the theme of angels in the 1990s (Playing Angel, Coming Angel, both 2001), combining works into various forms of octopuses (Angels I – VII). The generalized symbolic motifs are depicted in plastic, light color combinations.

In 1984 graduated from Vilnius state Art Academy, department of painting. Since 1984 participate in art exhibitions in Lithuania and foreign countries. The member of the Association of Artists. Participated in group exhibitions in Germany, Hungary, Holland, Sweden, Moscow, Bulgaria, Russia, France, United Arab Emirates. The private persons have paintings in USA, Germany, Denmark, France, Italy, Holland, Sweden, Poland, Moscow, Norway. Have arranged 15 personal exhibitions.
